Assuming Scamacca returns to Italy at least we should at least get our money back on him as he still appears to be highly rated there as Italy's first chose striker, unlike with Haller where we took a big loss.

It's been a shocking first season for him, I don't usually feel for footballers, but do a bit for him as he clearly is very frustrated at lack of minutes, etc. Not convinced about how good he really is, needs to improve his finishing and movement for me, but clearly has potential to be very good.

For all those who were screaming why isn't Scamacca playing, there's your answer!

This was the opportunity for him to shine against weak opposition and he didn't

He looked completely frustrated and disinterested largely due to his lack of service

There's obviously a good player in there as there was with Haller before him, but the way Moyes plays the centre forward has to create his own opportunities

Last night there was only one decent cross (which came from Benrahma) and Antonio put it away nicely

The other goal from Antonio was a superb long range free pop where he was given a chance because of their poor marking

Prior to his goal Antonio had been pretty awful, losing the ball every time it went near him causing many moves to break down

Hopefully, the goals will have given him a bit of a confidence boost, in fact, he accidentally became our motm as no other performances were particularly good

One positive about last night, apart from winning obviously, was that Cornet got some game time and looked sharp

Perhaps he knows how to put a decent cross in? That was a peach of a pass to put Paqueta in for what should have been an easy third goal, which of course, he fluffed

What's the prize for winning this 3rd rate cup anyway? Do the winners get to play in it again next season?

it's why I wanted him gone in october. he alienates certain players and the club end up losing multiple millions because of his incompetence and inability to work with technical players. it's why the argument about the dwarf prick not wanting to pay out £7m compensation is laughable, considering how much he's cost the club on failed signings

Scamacca will do just fine - when he goes to Inter or Juventus next season. Bet they will give him a run of games and wont play him isolated either.

The Scamacca issue is going to turn out as another of the many frustrating events, where he will go elsewhere and score goals. Much like Haller. While he did cut a frustrated, possibly disinterested figure, I’m struggling to blame the player.

Since he was signed for a significant sum, his manager has downplayed his readiness to play in this league. He then proceeded to score goals when given chances in the Europa CL, but that was deemed against inferior opposition so not an accurate representation of his ability. He was in and out of the team, despite scoring some good goals. He gets an injury and his manager claims he is “nowhere near ready to play yet” on return to fitness and them also signs another striker to push him down to probably third in the pecking order. I’d have the needle.

For more colour, this is a manager who has relied on goals from Cahill, Osman, Fellaini, Arteta throughout his career and the only “strikers” he has managed to get a slight tune out of are Antonio, Rooney and Yakubu! (I’m not including Jon Macken at Preston…)

He simply doesn’t know how to use a centre forward. He could be here for 10 more years and he would still not have any success in that department unless he is lucky enough to have a Rooney handed to him on a plate. He’d probably still be playing Antonio aged 43.

Richy - To be fair I'm only stating the obvious, I think the vast majority think the same. What irks me though is instead of Moyes keeping quiet about throwing away a once in a lifetime opportunity, he keeps reminding us all and boasting about how well we did to get to a semi final! He's a complete cretin, I mean are we really that small time, in his mind at least, where we should view it as such a great achievement and be so grateful?

Are you related to Mystic Meg? That's twice you've posted that Anotoio scored and about 2 minutes later he scores (On my stream anyway).

Arsene old son, not Mystic Meg (may she rest in peace) but I had two tabs open, one with a reply window to post the score on.

Completely agree, massive missed opportunity not winning EL last year, i doubt we will get that opportunity again any time soon. All we needed was a couple of extra bodies brought in Jan to give us a lift and allow us some options. Instead we flogged pretty much the same 13 or 14 players into the ground

Agree in part with cygnet, Cornet did look good and the two Antonio goals were excellent but he won't get that space or time in the premiership. The corner count of 14-0 to them does not suggest this win was as easy as it should have been and the understanding between Areola and Aguerd was still questionable. I assume we do practise corner kicks?

We will not beat Villa on Sunday if we cannot improve upon this. As for Scamacca he must be utterly p#ssed off and I am not surprised to read he is linked with a move away from the OS.

None of lazio, villareal or fiorentina are that great, but sadly nor are we!!

Villareal probably the best team in it and their main man up top has been injured a lot recently.

It was a routine win, after playing pony for the first 30 mins. They caused us some issues and actually played some OK football. We didn't look like world beaters and they disposed us quite easily in some parts of the game.

No real outstanders on the night but a win is a win. The main thing is we are still in the comp, we don't have any injuries and most of the first XI should be fresh for Sunday.

Cornet did well 2nd half and it can't have done Antonio any harm to get a couple of goals. Other than that there's nothing much to write home about

Routine win but not sure theres any positives to take from it.

If anything it made me more fearful for sunday.

We got no chance of winning the Europa Conf with Moyes in charge

marty - Yea I'm being mischievousness, of course we can win it, but a couple of handy sides left in it still that will be a big test. To be honest, even though it would be nice to win a trophy of course, and yes we saw what it meant to Mourinho last season (unless he was acting) I think the bigger reward here is going into the EL next season. That trophy has a new found credibility these days and has major clubs in it and will make us more appealing to players in the summer. Of course, we will never get the same chance again to win it as we did last season.

I would like a bigger side next round though as beating these joke sides and giving Moyes an angle to boast is pretty pointless, I'd rather just get on with it now and if we lose at least we won't have the Thurs/Sun games to effect crucial PL games.

Don't be surprised if we go all the way in this . Only doubt I have is the cunt in charge. I'm pretty sure all the ones writing us off were the exact same ones saying we were out after drawing Seville last season. These players we bought last summer are all better suited to Europe than the premier League .

Yea it's random. As soon as we play either Lazio, Villareal or Fiorentina we are no doubt going out.

As predicted Moyes is bigging it up that we are in another QF, hopefully we draw one of the above three next.
